余風采總堂慶一百零三載暨春節聯歡宴會

三月十一日（丁亥年正月廿二日），星期日下午一時，加拿大余風采總堂為慶祝成立一百零三週年紀念，總堂主席、顧問、理事、風采校友及數十名余氏宗親， 齊集位於温哥華華埠喬治亞東街二二六號的總堂禮堂，舉行隆重祭祖儀式，並紀念始祖余忠襄公一千零七歲冥誕，會場敬備三牲祭品及金豬等， 由主席余根洙帶領出席的理事及會員向始祖行禮如儀。

雖然當天是美加首次實施提早開始日光節約時間（夏令時間）日，大家已在凌晨二時起將時鐘往前撥快一小時了，宗親們也很準時到堂所來參加這慶祝典禮。 遠道嘉賓蒞臨助慶者有美西總顧問余樹湛伉儷、美國西雅圖余風采堂主席余國強、西雅圖余風采堂顧問余士景、西雅圖余風采堂議長余汝深伉儷、及中文書記余傑 鋒、 卑詩省省議員李燦明先生、本埠嘉賓有馬氏世表和謝氏世表、典禮儀式由福利組主任余啓康理事主持。

祭祖禮成後跟着紀念典禮開始, 首先由余風采堂康樂組唱堂歌、總堂副主席余錦文致歡迎詞、副書記余瑞芝宗讀祝詞、相繼邀請西雅圖余風采堂主席余國強、馬氏世表馬清石、 謝氏世表謝錫龍先後致詞。 分堂副主席余金星宗長致謝詞，代表風采堂多謝各位的光臨。


禮成後余風采堂堂所設有豐富美點饗眾、其中部份充滿家鄉風味美點是由謝氏世表婦女們送來、令大家享盡口福。 在此致謝福利組主任啓康叔和義工人員們安排這個活動，特別是要多謝余美湛夫婦、余榮燊夫婦、余瑞芝夫婦、 余風采總堂及余風采分堂各捐贈金豬全蹄共有五頭，給我們大家在下午慶典後和晚宴中分享。

晚宴在下午六時假座華埠富大酒家，有逾五百嘉賓出席，整個宴會場觥籌交錯， 充滿新春喜慶、歡樂祥和的氣氛。

參加者有中華人民共和國駐温哥華總領事館楊強總領事、僑務領事李少青、卑詩省亞太事務秘書省議員李燦明、 温哥華市議員周炯華、雷建華和黎拔佳。特別嘉賓總堂名譽顧問余宏榮法官、各僑團首長、僑領嘉賓、美西總顧問余樹湛伉儷、西雅圖余風采堂主席余國強、 顧問余海量伉儷、顧問余士晃伉儷、西雅圖余風采堂顧問余士景、西雅圖余風采堂議長余汝深伉儷、 中文書記余傑鋒等及馬氏世表和謝氏世表、風采校友會、和法律顧問馬禮遜律師連同本埠男女宗親。

 

當晚擔任春節聯歡宴會的司儀是大學生陳達勤先生（陳天民先生和余若薇姑的兒子）、和大學生余慧欣小姐（余柏寧理事和羅秀娟的女兒）分別用中英文主持。 在余風采堂的「金牌司儀」余金星宗長培訓演說技巧後，陳達勤先生和余慧欣小姐只需幾個小時訓練，就可以首次擔任做司儀， 他/她們的聲場和細節表現都非常自然，真是不錯，令人佩服！

晚宴節目包括青年組表演醒獅呈祥迎新年、余風采堂康樂組唱堂歌。 風采校友一起表演的「雨傘舞」，她們亮麗的服飾、委婉的舞姿及滿場飛舞的傘影，獲得當晚來賓熱烈的掌聲及喝釆。

總堂主席余根洙在宣佈宴會旨趣中表示，余風采堂在世界各地均有會員，會務興隆，成立百多年來對團結宗親及造福各地社會均有很大貢獻， 明年將會在亞省點問頓舉行「全加第十五屆懇親大會」，散居全球各地同宗會聚首一堂，屆時在溫哥華的宗親亦會組成龐大隊伍前往參加。 他接著倡議修葺荻海名賢余忠襄公祠，熱烈期待余氏宗親及歡迎社會各界熱心人士慷慨解囊，踴躍捐輸。 所有捐款人芳名及捐款金額，永載捐款紀念册，捐款額較大者、有特殊貢獻者另行表彰。

隨後，司儀們介紹當晚的嘉賓、相繼有楊強總領事、省議員李燦明、温哥華余風采分堂余美湛主席、市議員周炯華、 雷建華和黎拔佳及美西總顧問余樹湛致詞。接著下來是余金星宗長致謝詞。

楊強總領事在致詞時盛讚加拿大余風采總堂成立一百零三週年年來對僑社所作的貢獻，並為家鄉建設盡心盡力，令人感佩。 也盛讚華埠社區的團結、他祝大家新年快樂。
2007 Scholarship award receipients

余風采總堂延續其重視教育、會中余耀祥理事和余捷為理事主持頒發二零零六年度温哥華余風采堂獎學金給該堂堂員就讀於小學至大學的學業成績優良余氏的子女， 學生們一齊上台領獎，共有十四位同學得獎。

出席得獎者如下：:

小學組: 余世平、余美秀、余杏秀、余榮光、余恩秀、余曉正。
     

中學組: 余安娜、余珍秀、余清秀、余美蘭、余葦琪、余慧欣、余志媛。
 

大學組: 余嘉雯。

 

該娛樂節目氣氛熱鬧，由交際組主任余耀祥和「最佳拍當」余金星宗長主持、有穿著中式傳統紅襖的婦女組歌詠隊唱出非常之悅耳的歌曲 — 「迎春花」和「大中國」、余風采堂康樂組唱「大家恭喜」、還有謝氏世表謝仕平、余宏榮法官、西雅圖程啟平先生等嘉賓高唱卡拉 OK、給我們欣賞。


這晚大家在豐盛的佳餚、頒發獎學金活動、精彩的演出以及優美的歌聲中，共度過了一個愉快溫馨的周末。余氏宗親們，明年再見！

Celebrating the 103rd Anniversary of the Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada

The Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada celebrated its 103rd anniversary and the Chinese New Year of the Pig at its annual Spring Banquet on March 11, 2007.

Ancestor Ceremony

The ancestor ritual started at 1:00 pm in the YFT House on 226 East Georgia Street, Vancouver, B.C. where Chairman Mr. Kan Yu, the YFT advisors, and the Board of directors made offerings to our ancestor Yee Chung-sheung. Mr. Steven Yee emceed the afternoon ceremony.

Special guests who attended this ceremony include the US YFT Senior Advisor West Dr. James Yee and his wife; Seattle YFT President Mr. Michael Kwok Keung Yee; Seattle YFT Secretary Kit Fung Yue; B.C. MLA Mr. Richard T. Lee; and our cousins from the Mah Society and the Tse Clansman Association.

After the ritual  our YFT women's Choir sang the YFT Society Song, Mr. Gary Yee delivered a welcoming speech that touched on the history of the Society.  Congratulatory speeches from our guests. Followed by Mr. Shui Ji Yu who read the congratulatory letters, then Mr. James Yu gave the thank you speech. After the short ceremony, we all had lunch in the YFT House, we especially enjoyed the delicious home made traditional dim sum provided by members of the Tse Benevolent Association Women’s Committee.

Our Spring Banquet started at 6 pm at the Floata Seafood Restaurant. Honoured guests included the PRC Vancouver Consul General Yang Qiang; PRC Vancouver Vice Consul Li Shaoching; MLA Mr. Richard Lee; Vancouver City Councillors Mr. George Chow; Raymond Louie and Mr. BC Lee.

Also in attendance for the festivities were the Grand Advisor of the Yee Family Association of USA from Seattle, Dr. James Yee and his wife; Seattle YFT President Mr. Michael Yee;  Advisors Mr. Fred Yee and his wife; Advisors Mr. Suey Yee and his wife, Advisor Jim Yee,  Seattle Yee Family Association Officer Yi Sum Yu and his wife, Secretary Kit Fung Yue plus four other Seattle guests.

Special guests included Judge Bill Yee; and our Legal Advisor, Mr. Norman Morrison. Other guests included the Mah and Tse Benevolent Association members, Fung Toy Alumni, and other invited guests from the Chinese Community, and of course, our own YFT members and their families. We had over 500 people attend this happy gathering.

The Banquet festivities began with the traditional Lion dance performed by the YFT Youth Group, followed by the Yee Fung Toy Song sang by the Ladies Choir of the Recreation Committee.

Ms. Annabelle Yee, and Mr. Andrew Chen emceed the formal evening program.  Both Annabelle and Andrew did a great job even though it was their first time as emcees.

Mr. Kan Yu gave a detail account of a worldwide Project to Restore the Yee Fung Toy Ancestor Memorial Hall, and announced that in 2008 there will be the YFT Society of Canada's 15th National Convention to be held in Edmonton, Alberta.

After the speech by the YFT Society of Vancouver Chairman Mr. Jim Yee, who gave an account of the 2006 YFT events and the upcoming 2007 events. the first course of the dinner was served.

Mr. James Yu read out all the guest list and thank everyone who attended this anniverary event.

Mr. Phillip Yu  emceed the Vancouver Scholarship Awards to 14 outstanding students (6 from Elementary, 7 from Secondary, and 1 from University).

Mr. Phillip Yu also emceed the entertainment portion of the program. Performances by the Fung Toy Alumni and songs from the Women’s Singers were followed by guest Karaoke.

Tse Association Secretary Mr. Chia Su-Ping, Judge Bill Yee, Seattle's Tony Ching and several guests sang Karaoke for us.

This anniversary cerebration was a tremendous success! Thanks to the volunteers and YFT board members who helped to organize this annual event. Hope to see you all next year.
